Song of Sophia

August 8, 2026 by K. Blackthorn

El ran His fingers through His Beloved’s long silver hair, gazing into Her deep blue eyes.

“Sophia,” He whispered.  “You are beautiful, my love.”

“Kiss me with the kisses of your mouth.”  She pulled Him to Her.  “Your love is better than wine!”

He kissed Her gently, as He had done every night for as long as He could remember—and even before that.  He was the Eternal I, and She the Everlasting You.  There were only the two of them.

He stroked Her cheek, His fingers brushing Her neck.  She slid the dress from Her shoulders and let it fall to the floor in a heap of white and silver.  Everything about Her was flawless.  Her eyes.  Her breasts.  Her stomach.  Her navel.  Her thighs.

“You’ve captured my heart, my Sister!  My Bride!” He said.  “With only one glance of your eyes.”

He placed His left hand behind Her neck and His right arm around Her, holding Her close.  She gently pulled away and turned toward Their bed.  He watched Her walk, unable to take His eyes from Her.

She shot Him a look, lay down, then beckoned with Her finger.

“Let my Beloved come into His garden,” She breathed.  “And eat its choicest fruits.”

Sophia lay beside El, Her naked body glistening, Her face flushed with satisfaction.  His hand lingered on Her hip.

Every day, when the light faded from the cave near Their throne and gentle darkness obediently took its place, when the pavilions sprang up across the plains and music filled the air, They would slip away from the others and make love.

It was the perfect Day.  It had been this way Yesterday.  Today.  And Forever… perhaps.

She ran Her fingers through His golden hair and stroked His beard.

“El,” She said.  “Do you ever wish things were different?”

He looked up in surprise.  This was different.  She’d never asked Him that before.

“No,” He said.  “Why?”  She’d never seen Him puzzled before.

“I have You,” He said at last.  “What more could I want?”

She took His hand in Hers and squeezed it gently.  She placed it on Her belly.

“I am with child,” She said.

He beamed.  She’d never seen Him smile like that before.  He pulled Her close and kissed Her again.
